For military, first responders, and their families | Moline, Illinois and Davenport, Iowa

The mental wellness support you need so you can better serve your community & country

Your guide to healing from trauma, PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Support for military service members, first responders, and their families to better regulate their emotions, communicate better, and live more balanced lives.

It’s hard to serve others when you need to work on yourself first

When you’re on an airplane, they tell you to put on your oxygen mask before helping others. As an individual serving in the military or a first responder, you have an enormous weight on your shoulders. I’ll help you feel more at ease and lighten the pressure so you can be of higher service where you’re needed most at work and home.

Heal from past trauma

Live your day-to-day life with passion and service without worrying about being triggered or shutting down in response to PTSD or other trauma.

Have stronger relationships

Spousal or family relationships no longer feel strained, and you can communicate your feelings and needs clearly and concisely.

Serve to your highest ability

As someone born to serve their community, you’re feeling good about life and self, freeing yourself to better serve others.

Go from stressed and anxious to living the calm and purpose-driven life you deserve

Working in a service-driven job like the military or as a first responder, you’re performing an admirable, much-needed service to your community. However, many serving in these high-stress jobs forget that taking care of themselves is critical to their ability to help others.

Maybe you’re experiencing:

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Arguments with spouses or family

  • Losing your cool unnecessarily

  • Trouble concentrating at work

  • Trouble being present for your family

  • Worry about triggering your PTSD

First off, you are not alone.

As a Navy veteran with 7 years of active service, I watched my colleagues and I suffer from mental health issues in silence. Let’s work together to remove the stigma around mental health support in your profession so you can get the empowerment you need to move past trauma, anxiety, and depression.

I can help you become the confident, energized, motivated service member you were born to be through counseling, workplace wellness workshops, and self-paced online courses.

Meet Christina Wassenhove, LCPC, LMHC, CFRC

Throughout my career, I gained valuable experience, starting as a crisis clinician with the Robert Young Center in Moline, Illinois. I worked as a mental health counselor before eventually establishing my private counseling practice in Davenport, Illinois.

Drawing from my 7-year tenure as a Navy veteran and my ongoing service in the Active Reserve, my personal experiences in the military led me to specialize in supporting military personnel and first responders who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

I am a Mental Health Counselor, Licensed in Iowa, Illinois.

I have additional qualifications, including certification as a First Responder Counselor with Academy Hour. I earned a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Governors State University and a Master's Degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University.

I specialize in various therapy approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical Behavior (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and more.

Additionally, I am able to assist in obtaining and training Emotional Support Animals and

providing letters of recommendation, ensuring a client’s emotional ability to care for a dog and nurture companionship so they can cultivate a positive landlord relationship.

Helping individuals overcome their mental health challenges is a passion of mine, and I'm committed to positively impacting their lives.

You’re already a hero at work.

I guide you to becoming the hero of YOUR story.
